BW Econ 101

I believe some of our uninformed friends need an economics lesson. If the employees in part-time non-management positions get $15/hr, few people I know (including myself) will be able to eat there. If the restaurant's costs go up, their prices will go up. If no one can eat the food they're selling because it's no longer affordable to the masses, then NO ONE will get $15 or $7.25/hr because they... will have effectively been run out of business. Think about that as you protest today.

What's the answer? A part time job at a fast food restaurant is NOT A CAREER. Stay in school and maximize every opportunity you're given. Work to obtain skills that are marketable. We're not all DRs or scientists. We need welders, and nurses, and truckers, and electricians, and postmen, and exterminators, and people with business skills. Accountants... the list is eternal. But there is NO DEMAND for people who can flip a burger... that is why those jobs are minimum wage and part time. People are paid based on their skill value along with supply and demand. Prepare yourself, I'm about to create a new phrase.

I get so weary of the PC (Politically Correct) environment we've allowed to be created.  Does anyone even remember what it means to have Freedom of Speech?  I agree, we must be careful to be sensitive to others and that there are words and phrases that should not be uttered... because they are beyond offensive... they are hurtful.

I propose that rather than cowering to a virtual  "PC police", we focus on something that has a much greater reward than simply being "PC".  Let's be "LC"... Lovingly Correct.

I choose not to say some things, not because someone is going to get mad and protest me... but rather because I have people that I care about and love that would be hurt by those things.  I will be Lovingly Correct.

I choose not to tell jokes that the majority might find humorous, because I have those that I know and love that are in the minority that pay the cost of that humor.  I will be LC.

I will not subject people of another political persuasions to my opinion when it is not asked for, because we may share different life experiences that have led us to our opposing corners.  I will be LC.

In my circle of loved ones I have people of all shades of color.  None of us are black and none of us are white.  Truly, we are all somewhere in the middle.  Some darker... some lighter.  Some have freckles.  Some have wrinkles and others don't.  Some smell pretty... and others not always so much.  Some of the men are very rugged and athletic... while others can't throw a baseball very well.  Some of the women are very domestic and like to wear tall pointy shoes... while a few of them can clean a deer and fix my car.

PC is negative.  LC is caring.  In a PC world, we are told what not to say or do.  In an LC world, we choose to love those that may not be like us.  We choose to walk a path that Christ first walked.  One of inclusion... not exclusion.  One of love... and not of hate.  One of acceptance... and not rejection.  One of unification... and not of division.  And that's what PC does... it divides us.  LC unites.

Who's with me?  You'll never offend someone with love.
